Popular resorts
on the Costa Tropical
Almunecar. Almunecar is becoming a
vibrant beach resort. There is history here with many Roman ruins,
the San Miguel Castle and Almunecar Castle, with its world famous
potter. Almunecar also boasts the Loro Sexi bird park with 1,500
species of birds.
Motril. Motril is the largest
resort on the Costa Tropical offering easy access to both the Sierra
Nevada Mountains and the beaches of the Costa Tropical. It is also a
useful base to discover Morocco by boat. Water sports including
snorkelling, diving are popular and there is golf at the Los
Moriscos golf course.
Salobrena. The village of
Salobrena is a typical Andalusian whitewashed town with a stunning
beach and an impressive Moorish castle. Salobrena clings to a large
rock outcrop set just back from the coastline and has spectacular
views of the sea. Salobrena is also a great base for skiing in the
Alpujarra. From October to April, you can ski by day, and relax on
the beach in the evening.
La Herradura. La Herradura has one
of the best beaches on the Costa Tropical - unspoilt and set
in a bay
